A federal court in Australia has defied the science that men, male down to their DNA, cannot become women by ordering damages paid to a man who was denied participation in the women-only networking app, Giggle for Girls.
It is ADF International that reported on the punishment for Sali Grover, founder of the app, and lawyer Robert Clarke said it now is up to Australia’s parliament to fix the errors.
“A law written to protect women has been used to punish a woman for creating a space for women. That is what today’s judgment means in practice,” Clarke explained. “The addition of ‘gender identity’ to the Sex Discrimination Act has been used to undermine the most basic conception of what a woman is. The need for single-sex spaces is recognized in international human rights law. It must be recognized in Australian law too, and if the courts will not say so, then parliament must.”
The fight has been ongoing for several years.
The most recent development was a rejection by the Full Court of the Federal Court of Australia of an appeal from Grover.
She was ruled by the leftist court agenda in 2024 to have “indirectly discriminated” against Roxanne Tickle, a man who says he’s a woman.
That court ruling said sex is not “a biological concept.”
The most recent ruling not only rejected Grover’s appeal, but granted Tickle’s appeal when he claimed he was subject to “direct discrimination.”
He was awarded $20,000 Australian, plus legal costs capped at $100,000 Australian, ADF International documented.
The legal team argued in the case that Australian law should affirm biological reality as well as protect women’s spaces that are recognized under international human rights law.
Australian several years ago amended its Sex Discrimination Act to promote the “gender identity” agenda and eliminate the definitions of “man” and “woman.”
The court’s ruling said it had to follow that scheme.
“I am absolutely devastated. Men who claim to be women have more rights than actual women in Australia. It is women who are being discriminated against, not the men who claim to be us. But in a sense, nothing has changed: we will all wake up tomorrow & men will still not be women,” Grover said.
