The Central Intelligence Agency, the secretive American department best known for clandestine spying and stealing secrets, emerged from the shadows Wednesday to fiercely object to one of its officers blowing the whistle to Congress about a massive cover-up involving the origins of COVID-19.
As CIA officer James Erdman III testified before the Senate Homeland Security Committee, Liz Lyons, a spokeswoman for the agency issued a statement blasting the hearing as “dishonest political theater.”
“This proceeding amounts to nothing more than dishonest political theater masquerading as a congressional hearing,” said Liz Lyons of the CIA.
“The Committee acted in bad faith by subpoenaing an Agency officer for testimony today without notifying CIA, despite having already obtained closed-door testimony from the individual previously. The witness testifying today is not appearing as a whistleblower in pursuit of the truth, but instead in response to the subpoena issued by Chairman Paul.”
Lyons concluded: “As the CIA has already assessed, COVID-19 most likely originated from a lab leak, and efforts to undermine that conclusion are disingenuous.”

Lyons’ statement was read in real time during the hearing by U.S. Sen. Ron Johnson, R-Wis., who was not thrilled.
“This is not political theater,” Johnson stressed.” “I have years and years and years of built-up frustration of agencies like the CIA, Department of Justice, the FBI, HHS snubbing our oversight, giving us the big middle finger.”
“This is serious oversight work, this is what the American people need to see,” he continued.

“I’m calling on CIA Director Ratcliffe and this person to apologize to Chairman Paul and this committee.”
Ratcliffe did not immediately issue an apology.
Johnson asked Erdman about the lack of cooperation between the CIA and the director of National Intelligence, saying: “What is preventing the CIA from totally cooperating with the DNI?”
“I don’t know,” replied Erdman.
Johnson responded: “You’ve been in the CIA. Who’s running the show?”

Regarding the actions of Dr. Anthony Fauci during the COVID pandemic, Erdman testified: “Dr. Fauci’s role in the cover-up was intentional.”
