‘Rule over the rubble’: Top Dem lawyer Marc Elias pushes ‘scrapping the entire Virginia government’

A lawyer who lives on the extremist edge of Democrat agendas, Marc Elias, has posted a social media statement noting that Virginia Democrats, unhappy with a state Supreme Court ruling they have to follow the state constitution, could simply get rid of the entire state government.

The Democrats tried a political scheme to take over 10 of the state’s 11 congressional districts, allocating 49% of the state only 9% of the state’s representation. Right now the split is six Democrat districts and five Republican. The state Supreme Court ruled that violated the state requirements for two votes by the legislature, separated by an intervening election, and threw out the results.

Immediately Democrats began discussing how to replace the state’s Supreme Court, by forcing every justice to retire, in order to obtain a decision that would bend to Democrat politics. Elias wasn’t stopping there.

He said, online, “whenever any government shall be found inadequate or contrary to these purposes, a majority of the community hath an indubitable, inalienable, and indefeasible right to reform, alter, or abolish it, in such manner as shall be judged most conducive to the public weal.”

He was quoting from the state’s own constitution.

But constitutional expert Jonathan Turley, whose perspectives on the U.S. Constitution at times have guided decisions in Congress, pointed out the obvious.

“Democratic lawyer Marc Elias appears to believe that Democrats do not need to stop at simply sacking and packing the Virginia Supreme Court in response to the adverse ruling on the radical gerrymandering plan. Elias reminded Democrats that they could eliminate the entire Virginia government under the state constitution.”

He explained, “Elias responded to the loss by invoking language from Article I of the Virginia Constitution itself. … That is his response to a well-reasoned decision of unconstitutionality of a redistricting plan. We can scrap the entire Virginia government.”

This, Turley said, “is another example of the ‘by any means necessary’ culture of the left today. There is no institution or value that is sacred.”

He noted, “Elias is reminding Virginians that they can respond to an opposing court decision by eliminating some or all of the Virginia state government.”

Turley noted the long list of extremist Democrat points pursued by Elias over the years.

For instance, Elias was “general counsel to the Clinton presidential campaign when it secretly funded the infamous Steele dossier and pushed the false Alfa Bank conspiracy. (His fellow Perkins Coie partner, Michael Sussmann, was later indicted but acquitted).”

And, “Elias’s group later unsuccessfully led efforts to challenge Democratic electoral losses.”

And, “In Maryland, Elias’s team supported another abusive gerrymandering scheme that a court found not only violated Maryland law but the state constitution’s equal protection, free speech and free elections clauses. The court found that the map ‘subverts the will of those governed.'”

And, “In 2024, Elias’s legal team was also accused of pushing ‘to bar third-party presidential candidates — including Cornel West — from swing state ballots where they might siphon votes from the Democratic nominee [Kamala Harris].'”

And, “The New York Times reported that Elias’s firm’s work ‘on behalf of a Soros-funded PAC in Texas…was opposed by a left-leaning election watchdog as undermining laws intended to limit the influence of major donors.'”

“In 2024, the Chief Judge of the Western District of Wisconsin criticized the Elias Law Group for one of its challenges. Judge James Peterson (an Obama appointee) said that the argument ‘simply does not make any sense.'”

After Elias’ work with Clinton, whose attempts to move into the Oval Office failed twice, he worked for the Kamala Harris campaign.

Social media commenters cited Elias as “Dangerous, unhappy, maladministrated, inadequate, and contrary to liberty all describe Democrats.”

And, “So you want to abolish the govt to save Democracy?!? You’re a lunatic.”

And, “Prepare to be a permanent minority in politics by 2030.”

And, “Translation: Democrats can’t win so we’re going to tear everything down and rule over the rubble.”
