A congressional hearing at the House Foreign Affairs Committee went off the rails Wednesday when a member of Congress decided to abandon questions about overseas issues and instead investigate the shoes given to Secretary of State Marco Rubio by President Donald Trump.
U.S. Rep. Sara Jacobs, D-Calif., sparked the bizarre turn of events when she asked Rubio who won the controversial 2020 presidential election.
When America’s top diplomat refused to answer based on his role as secretary of state and not domestic issues, Jacobs entered the twilight zone.
“It seems like you have an issue admitting facts,” she began.
“You can’t say that the president lost the 2020 election, just like you won’t admit President Trump is losing this reckless war of choice.
“And just like you couldn’t admit that the shoes the president bought you were too big, you clearly don’t know what winning means. And not because the facts are unclear to you, it’s because telling the truth would cost you your job.”
A perplexed Rubio answered: “I don’t know what shoes she’s talking about. What is she talking about?”
“I don’t know about the shoes. I mean he gave me some Florsheim shoes that are actually pretty good. They fit fine. I don’t know what she’s talking about.”
Jacobs interjected: “Your shoes look very nice today, Mr. Secretary.”
“How can you see them?” wondered Rubio. “They’re way down here. We’re talking about shoes. Are you guys kidding me? I mean, is this the Foreign Affairs Committee, or is this like a circus? What is this?”
Rep. Tim Burchett, R-Tenn., replied: “I think it’s a circus.”

On Tuesday, as WorldNetDaily reported, Rubio got into an another epic clash with U.S. Sen. Jacky Rosen, D-Nev., who claimed he was attending a party in Miami when he should have been negotiating in Pakistan to help end the conflict with Iran.
