President Donald Trump has announced the first ever midterm Republican convention, as he hopes to propel GOP congressional candidates to victory, retaining control of both chambers.
The event is scheduled for Sept. 9 and 10 in Dallas.
In a lengthy post on Truth Social Tuesday, Trump said: “BIG NEWS! For the first time ever, the Republican Party will hold a MIDTERM CONVENTION. It will be in Dallas, Texas — One of my favorite places in the World. It will be fantastic! It has never been done before, and will be a truly Historic Event.
“We are going to celebrate the GREAT AMERICAN COMEBACK, and the incredible successes of the American People who transformed our Country through the America First Agenda – NO TAX ON TIPS, NO TAX ON OVERTIME, NO TAX ON SOCIAL SECURITY, STRONGER BORDERS, SAFEST EVER COMMUNITIES, LOWER COSTS AND REAL AFFORDABILITY, MORE JOBS, AMERICAN ENERGY DOMINANCE, AND SO MUCH MORE!
“Oil Prices are dropping sharply, even as we Denuclearize Iran. We are delivering on the promises that politicians talked about for decades, but never got done. At the Event, we will have hardworking Americans, our Great Innovators, Entrepreneurs, Manufacturers, First Responders, and Job Creators who are powering our Nation’s Golden Age, and proving that America’s best days are still ahead of us.
“We will also have lots of Great Entertainment – It will be a RALLY like none other! America’s 250th Birthday is approaching, and together, we are building the foundation for the NEXT 250 YEARS of American Greatness.

“I love it,” Mike Davis, founder of the Article III Project, told John Solomon on Real America’s Voice. “President Trump always finds a way to go on offense.”
“People think that we’re just gonna sit back and lose this midterm election like the president’s parties do in off-year elections. We’re gonna fight. We did a fantastic job largely winning the redistricting fight. We’re gonna stay on offense and Republicans are gonna pull the rabbit out of the hats and keep the House and keep the Senate after this midterm election.”

The convention coincides with NFL season kickoff, as the Seattle Seahawks and New England Patriots will face each other on Sept. 9, and the Los Angeles Rams play the San Francisco 49ers on Sept. 10 in Melbourne, Australia, streaming on Netflix.
Democrats have considered holding their own midterm convention, but multiple outlets report they have decided against it, with a fundraising crunch among the reasons.
Forbes reports what we don’t know at this point is “how a midterm convention will impact polling. Parties typically receive a bump shortly after holding a convention in presidential election years, though it is unclear whether the same pattern will apply to a midterm event.
“Presidential election year Republican and Democratic conventions are also high-profile television events, drawing tens of millions of viewers as major networks broadcast key speeches. It remains unclear how much coverage or interest the midterm convention will draw.”
