Riley Gaines, the collegiate swimmer forced to allow a biological male to claim victory over her and who became a spokeswoman in support of women’s sports, has responded to the ongoing controversy in the WNBA over men who have declared for the draft set to take place in the league.
Gaines spoke to conservative influencer Benny Johnson about former NBA player Enes Kanter Freedom, as WorldNetDaily reported, getting tossed from a WNBA game after a player confronted him in the audience. Freedom had previously announced his plans to play in the league since the WNBA has no prohibition or policy limiting players’ eligibility to biological females.
Referring to men playing with women in the WNBA, Johnson remarked, “This would be a clown show. A lot of [women players] would probably end up in the hospital.”
Gaines agreed, pointing out several examples of girls or women landing in the hospital with sometimes life-altering injuries after incidents involving biological males.
“We’ve seen in Massachusetts at this point, in field hockey, where a boy slapped a shot, hit the girl in the face, and all of her teeth came out,” noted Gaines. “She had to undergo facial reconstruction surgery to … reconstruct her jaw.”
She continued, “There’s a girl by the name of Peyton McNabb who is partially paralyzed on her right side. As a boy jumps up, spots the ball, hits her in the face. She was knocked unconscious. … Her vision is impaired, her memory is impaired, and she’s partially paralyzed.”
Gaines says girls in sports today are getting one message from the advocates of “trans” women playing sports with true women, and that is: “One boy’s feelings matter more than all girls’ physical safety.”
