Democrats long have been the party of abortion. For anyone. At any point in the pregnancy. Because that’s “health care.” And that’s a woman’s “right.”
One of the main agenda points for Kamala Harris during her failed 2024 presidential bid was more abortion for more unborn. Barack Obama once said he wouldn’t want his daughters, if they make a mistake, “punished with a baby.”
But one new state plan, adopted by Democrats and signed into law by a Democrat governor, just goes too far, according to some Democrats.
WorldNetDaily reported it was the plan in Massachusetts, where Gov. Maura Healey signed the death scheme into law, that prompted Franklin Graham, chief of the worldwide Christian ministry Samaritan’s Purse, to say, “This sends a chill up my spine.”
Now, it seems, Healey’s agenda goes too far for even some Democrats.
A report at the Washington Stand said, “Some progressive lawmakers in Massachusetts have broken with their governor and admitted that aborting a child at full-term gestation is uncivilized.”
Healey, a “lesbian-identifying Democrat,” signed the bill allowing late-term abortions literally with no restrictions, even though that puts the state at odds with public opinion, where 76% want restrictions on abortion.
“It’s election season, which means the Democratic Party is single-mindedly pursuing new ways to promote limitless abortion,” Matt Carpenter, director of Family Research Council Action at Family Research Council, told The Washington Stand. “Just as this obsequious devotion to the abortion lobby probably cost them the presidency in 2024 — as Kamala Harris campaigned almost exclusively on expanding abortion rights, and in Congress, as lifelong Democratic voters, who’ve been okay with pro-choice politicians, chafed at the state of the new pro-abortion Democratic Party — there’s a real chance they will fall short in some key races this year because voters aren’t particularly interested in expanding late term abortion.”
Evidence shows not all liberal party members are pleased.
“The new law is barbaric,” Jeffrey Turco, a Democrat from Winthrop, informed Fox News Digital. “[It] represents an extremist and dangerous position. To be clear, it allows abortion anytime, unrestricted, and in many cases, publicly funded until the moment of birth.”
Majority Democrats adopted the “Prioritizing Patient Care Act” in the House 119-33.
Turco charged the bill had to be “rushed” through the legislature and the public was not allowed to weigh tin.
The Washington Stand also reported Chris Markey, a Democrat from Dartmouth, said, “I am deeply disappointed in the passage of this bill. This bill creates a very slippery slope. I believe this law puts doctors in a very difficult ethical dilemma, as well as conflicts with long-standing criminal case law. This law, I believe, is not consistent with the beliefs of the vast majority of my constituents. While many are pro-choice, you can still be pro-choice and see this law as going beyond the norms of acceptability.”
Another Democrat, Dennis Gallagher of Plymouth, said, “At that point in a pregnancy, if the health of the mother is fine and the baby’s health is fine, I just think alternatives should be encouraged for that baby. So that’s what I struggled with. But it should always be between a woman and their doctor.”
Another Democrat, Alan Silvia of Bristol, told Fox, “My position has been consistent: I believe in protecting human life, including the life of the unborn. We go to extraordinary lengths as a society to protect vulnerable life, saving whales and saving strays, yet when it comes to an unborn child, that same sense of protection too often seems to disappear.”
Franklin Graham continued, “Smiles and applause while the Democratic Massachusetts governor signs a bill to allow abortions up to birth in her state.
“This is murder. It’s evil. She calls abortion healthcare for women. The Bible says, ‘Woe to those who call evil good and good evil’ (Isaiah 5:20). This governor and those cheering will one day stand before a Holy God—I don’t think they will be cheering then.”
Healey made her state the 10th to permit the procedure up to birth.

Healey claimed, “We believe that health care decisions should be made between women and families and their doctors, not politicians. Abortion will remain safe. It will remain legal, and it will remain accessible here in Massachusetts. That’s my commitment to you.”
Other states that have joined the radical abortion-anytime agenda include Alaska, Colorado, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, New Jersey, New Mexico, Oregon and Vermont.
SBA Pro-Life America President Marjorie Dannenfelser rejected Healey’s ideology.
“It should shock the conscience that tens of thousands of unborn Americans are barbarically dismembered limb by limb and torn apart every single year,” she said. “Sadly, that number will only increase with Gov. Healey’s approval of the Abortion Up Until Birth Bill. The GOP must abandon the ‘leave it to the states’ position – a stance that permits egregious late-term abortion laws like this one – and advance national protections for unborn children.”
