Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, the Republican running for U.S. Senate against Democrat James Talarico, made a serious plea for financial help from all of America on Sunday, as a new poll released Friday shows Talarico leading Paxton by 4 points in the Lone Star State which has been historically strong for the GOP.
Appearing on “Sunday Morning Futures” with Maria Bartiromo on the Fox News Channel, Paxton indicated Talarico has “got a lot of money coming in from California and other liberal states. He had $30 million. When I finished my [primary] race, I had zero. So we’re trying to get help from all over the country. So go to KenPaxton.com because we need help!”
“We need help now because James Talarico’s been spending $3 million or $4 million a week on TV for the last month. So I want to compete. I want to be able to tell people exactly what he believes.”
“We just need the resources to highlight exactly what this guy believes. He might be able to get elected in California or New York, but not in Texas if we tell people the truth about his actual views.”

Paxton noted the stark difference between himself and Talarico, saying: “I don’t think we agree on anything.”
“He voted against every single bill on the border,” he explained, “now he says he’s for securing the border. It just betrays everything he’s stood for. He’s voted for higher taxes. He voted for a state income tax, a death tax. He criticized Trump’s cut on tips, overtime wages, Social Security and the child tax credit as being fundamentally immoral. So this is a guy that does not hold Texas views.”
“He says you can’t be a Christian and support the oil and gas industry which employs 500,000 people and indirectly 2.8 million people. So there is not a single issue that he and I agree on or that I think that most of Texas would agree, including the transgender issue which he has pushed over and over and fought for boys in girls’ sports, calling it a right-wing conspiracy that we would even oppose it.”

Paxton says among his top priorities if elected to the Senate is getting the SAVE America Act passed.
“It’s the most important piece of legislation that we’ve had for a long time,” he said. “If we cannot stop illegal voting in many of these Democratic states that don’t have photo ID, that allow illegals to vote, that mail out ballots to everybody, there’s no ballot security.
“We don’t have real elections right now in many, many of the Democratic states. If we do not fix that now … it may be too late down the road if we lose a few other Republican states, they will fix the elections the same way they have in other states and we will forever be unable to fix it. So I am very much focused on making sure we get that passed.”

Last month in Houston, Talarico accused Paxton of voter fraud by voting at an address where he no longer resided, saying: “Our Republican secretary of state here in Texas has already said that our elections are safe and secure.”
“But as our state’s attorney general, Ken Paxton has gone on a voter fraud witch hunt. Turns out, he was committing voter fraud the whole time.”

Paxton on Sunday pushed back hard, saying: “I think it’s interesting. I’ve voted at the same place for over two decades. The reality is he (Talarico) moved into his parents’ basement, and supposedly wasn’t there for the 12 months he was supposed to to be able to file in a new district and run in it. And he did that and he voted in it!
“So I think it’s really hypocritical of him of all people who skirted the voting laws in Texas to vote. So I’m not surprised. This is how he’s operating. He can’t attack on me on real issues because he doesn’t want to talk about real issues because he doesn’t believe anything we believe.”
Paxton said Republicans “have to win” Texas for keeping control of the U.S. Senate.
“I don’t think we can hold onto it unless we win Texas,” he said.
