Flightmare: Multiple fatalities as Amazon cargo plane overshoots runway at Miami airport, striking vehicles and bursting into flames

MIAMI, Florida – At least five people are dead and five others injured after an Amazon Prime cargo plane overshot the runway and struck numerous vehicles upon landing Sunday at Miami International Airport.

“We’ve issued a full ground stop at Miami International while first responders assess the scene after an Amazon cargo plane overran the runway,” said. U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy.

“If you’re traveling through the area, please expect significant delays and potential cancellations. The FAA will send inspectors to investigate.”

The Federal Aviation Administration said: “21 Air Flight 7598 overran the runway after landing at Miami International Airport around 2 p.m. local time on Sunday, Sept. 6. The Boeing 767-300 cargo aircraft departed from Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport in San Juan, Puerto Rico.”

“The FAA will investigate. Contact the airline for additional information.”

One runway has since reopened to help alleviate a backlog of Labor Day weekend travelers.

A massive emergency response in underway, as Miami-Dade Fire Rescue said: “Over 60 Miami-Dade Fire Rescue units are on scene of an incident involving a plane that overran a runway and struck multiple vehicles near Miami International Airport.

“Units arrived to find an airplane that had caught on fire as a result of this crash, with heavy flames and smoke showing. Firefighters are working on extinguishing the fire and assessing patients.”

Fire officials told Fox News Digital: “Firefighters are working on extinguishing the fire, and there are multiple patients,” but authorities have not yet released details on injuries or fatalities.

An Amazon spokesperson told Fox News the plane experienced an “incident,” though it was scant on details

“We can confirm that an Amazon Air plane operated by 21 Air experienced an incident while attempting to land at Miami International Airport today,” Amazon said.

“This is a fast-moving situation and we’re still gathering details. We’re working closely with local authorities and officials to understand exactly what happened. Right now, our absolute priority is the safety, well-being, and care of everyone involved. We’re doing everything we can to support those affected.”
