President Donald Trump on Tuesday blasted allegations the American military is running low on weapons, calling those making the claim “cowards and traitors.”
In a brief post on Truth Social, Trump said: “The cowards and traitors would love to say the United States is low on munitions. It’s not true.
“We have more munitions than we could ever possibly think of using, and are building them up now at levels we have never seen before.”
Though he did not name anyone specific, it’s possible Trump was reacting to analysis by Fox News commentators, as Lawrence Jones of “Fox & Friends” said the U.S. munitions supply was a “real concern.”
“I think people forget, not only do we have action going on in Iran, but we also still ave action going on in Venezuela as well. We’re still going after those boats,” Jones said.
“And so, as much as I don’t like talking about publicly the munitions problem, ’cause I just think it’s bad for national security, there is some real concern about that.”

Co-anchor Brian Kilmeade noted: “The only thing I heard about the munitions is a lot of the exquisite stuff we have to conserve. But what I heard is the lower level stuff, which is high level for any other country, that we have enough.”
On Sept. 14, the inspector general of the Department of War released its first report on the conflict with Iran, indicating the war has led to a shortfall of American munitions and “bottlenecks” in supply chains.
“To mitigate these constraints,” the report noted, the Pentagon is “working to streamline procurement processes and production lead times, and to stockpile critical materials, components, and selected munitions to respond rapidly to a contingency.”
Responding to that report, Trump said on X last week: “I’ve just received a Report that the United States is producing more Exquisite and Elite Weapons than at any time in our History. They are being delivered on a daily basis to our Forces in the Middle East, and beyond.
“Our Defense Company Factories are moving 24/7, while at the same time building, on average, 4 to 5 largescale brand new Plants, each! A primary focus of this production has been Patriots, THAAD Systems, Tomahawks, and other Standard Missile Systems, of which we already have large numbers in stock.”
On Sept. 3, Trump struck a similar theme, saying: “For the treasonous SCUM that refuses to accurately report on our Military Operation in Iran, we have virtually unlimited amounts of Mid to High Grade Ammunition, far more than we could ever use for this, or for any other War (which is highly unlikely!), that could improbably take place.
“In addition, we are producing Munitions at levels never seen before. We are stockpiling and preparing for any contingency that could happen. We are taking them for ourselves, the U.S.A., rather than selling them to others, but the sales to Allies will soon again, begin.
“Also, please let it be known, that the Biden Administration gave far more Munitions away to Ukraine, at no cost to them, whatsoever, than we have used in Iran. Hundreds of Billions of Dollars was given to Ukraine and NATO, free of charge, that Europe would have paid for – If they were only asked, but we will be asking for that money, though somewhat belatedly!”
In August, War Secretary Pete Hegseth reacted to a banner headline on CNN claiming top commanders were warning that weapon stockpiles were “dangerously low.”
“That banner is NOT TRUE, CNN. Shame on you,” Hegseth said. “We don’t hate the Fake News media enough.”
