Call it a ‘Purple Wave’ election – passionately undecided

In 2012, I lost an election by 58 votes out of about 80,000. No one expected me to win – a talk show host with no political experience.

It took a month to confirm the bad news. I got some sad calls from conservative friends who wished they’d done more, saying if only they’d known how close we were. The math was easy and they knew it. Turn 30 votes and the whole vote turns. If only …

We are in that kind of election right now. It’s up for grabs, so passion matters. Voters need to forget polls and prognosticators and work hard now to get friends engaged – like maybe helping them remember the Biden nightmare?

But first, Americans must understand this strange political season.

Both Red and Blue states have shockingly close senatorial elections. The House may also be affected by this unusual “purple” phenomenon, which is high on emotion just like any wave election, yet may not be high on commitment.

As a traditional Democrat – remembering an “under God” party that was not Woke crazy – I decided long ago to vote only for Republicans until “my party” comes to its senses. But Democrat leaders keep descending ever further and further into “weird.” On the air and in my writing, I keep resisting their anti-American revolution.

Despite some weird-maxxing Democrat candidates, the usual midterm power-shifts may still hold sway in November. “My party” smells blood. The usual suspects in the old media are polling and preaching blue wave, a proven tactic designed to demoralize conservatives and create no-votes out of go-votes.

Fact: Polls can be pushed low for opponents or pushed high for friends.

Remember, Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed polled about 10 points ahead in his primary, yet won by only a single percentage point. How many moderate Michigan Democrats gave up voting because of the dismal polling and stayed home? If only …

Just think, right now how many races across the country are called “safe” because of a fake 10-point margin? And because of that, how many Americans won’t vote?

Although “my party” has revealed its radical heart, many people hold emotionally to the Democrat brand. So, the polls look good for Democrats.

And yet, plenty of credible pundits, including longtime liberal media critic Howard Kurtz, are warning overconfident Democrats victory isn’t as clear as they think.

Trump’s numbers may be down, but the two parties are even less popular right now. Voters seem hesitant. ABC’s Donna Brazille, a veteran Democrat strategist, admitted only a few days ago what keeps her up at night: “54 million Americans have requested their ballots – mail ballots – and only 2.5 million people have turned their ballots in.”

That’s less than 5% committed – in mid-October. Talk about undecided.

Voters are clearly frustrated and even angry at both parties, creating a wave-like emotion that may look purple based on so many close races. But they will, of course, break either Red or Blue on Election Day – hopefully Red, and maybe in a big way (considering fake polling like the El-Sayed poll).

Believing victory is possible is the key to action in these last few weeks. People can be reached and inspired to reclaim commonsense, despite their anger. Emotional blindness can be cured.

Of course, there’s plenty to be emotional about. Recently, pollster Lee Hartley Carter analyzed voter mood, commenting: “What strikes me most about voters right now isn’t enthusiasm. It’s exhaustion. They’re tired of Trump. They’re tired of Democrats. They’re tired of Washington. They’re tired of paying too much for everything. They may be even tired of being asked how tired they are. That’s a volatile electorate. And volatile electorates have a nasty habit of embarrassing people who think they’ve figured them out.”

Sounds like a Purple Wave to me – pent-up frustration and anger toward Washington in general.

And yes, Democrats and their colleagues in old media work hard to make us “tired of Trump,” but that “Biden nightmare” still haunts our memory.

Who can forget all the endless lies about President Biden’s mental health? Who can forget the caravans of millions of aliens (mostly young men) overwhelming our border, not to mention 2 million “got-aways” of unknown origin and unknown intent – that’s a large army. Who can forget the disastrous COVID lockdown or the controversial “vaccinations” forced on our children when the Biden administration knew children were not under significant threat?

Who can ever forget the disaster of Biden’s Afghanistan withdrawal, which cost the lives of 13 Americans and the loss of a strategically important airbase, not to mention billions in lost armaments, which the Taliban sells to our terrorist enemies? Somehow my party finds a way to turn most American wars into defeat, despite our warfighters’ endless victories on the battlefield.

But that was then. What about now?

My mayor, Zohran Mamdani, refused to join the Columbus Day parade. No surprise, since in 2020 he flipped off a Columbus statue on X with the words, “Take it down.”

The present is horrifying enough, as the insane DSA platform attests.

Bottom line, President Trump is right; my party is crazy. Because “Woke 1 was crazy,” as even AOC had to admit. (Americans figured that out in 2024, which turned all the battleground states red.) And to the point, “Woke 2” is no better, as the editors at the Wall Street Journal recently explained.

Let’s face it. Trump Derangement Syndrome itself is pretty weird, but when it comes to “common sense versus crazy,” the evidence of derangement is everywhere. There’s a telling moment on Netflix in this season’s “Fauda” (that’s Arabic for “chaos,” the name of the popular Israeli action thriller and drama series) when a young Hamas terrorist is spewing “Free Palestine” propaganda. He is confronted by an undercover Israeli: “All this dream about freeing Palestine, do you realize it’s not a reality? … Do you think the Israelis will say OK? … that they will say, take our high tech and our nuclear weapons, and say nicely ‘goodbye’ and go?”

The Democratic Socialists of America foment an even greater delusion; they wish to remake Israel and America too!

While “my party” leaders beclowned themselves with smiling faces, welcoming these socialists, they talk of a viewpoint diversity that everyone knows does not exist. Their “big tent” looks more like a circus tent to sane, traditional Democrats, whether Christian, Jewish or otherwise.

That’s why, from where I sit, Donald J. Trump will go down in history as one of our greatest presidents, a true man of action and accomplishment when it comes to “making America great again.” Victory over terrorist Iran would alone guarantee Trump’s place in the history books.

And yet, the slow roll of the Iran war, high gas and diesel prices, frustration with the Trumpian process, the constant drumbeat of Trump hate by the globalist establishment and the current crop of truly radical Democratic candidates – not to mention by our enemies – all filtered through a hostile media culture has led to this strange and dangerous political moment.

To voters not fully engaged, it’s a confusing choice involving mixed emotions – and plenty of frustration.

This purple tension now stands ready to express itself while we wait to see which party proves more determined to define our “America 250” future. Which side will go the distance to turn out their friends?

Perhaps it will be Republicans, including groups like Turning Point Action and Heritage Action for America. I hope so. I remember too well the pain of a close election loss and wondering whether more could have been done to win.

And as a longtime critic of my increasingly crazy Democratic Party, where the so-called moderates want to end the filibuster, pack the court and abolish the Electoral College, I know all too well the grave danger of not voting Republican.
