COCOA, Florida – A jealous girlfriend is now charged with attempted murder for allegedly hunting down her cheating boyfriend and shooting his other woman with a pink Glock to “make a point.”
Katherine Kelly, 25, of Cocoa, Florida, is also charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, shooting into an occupied vehicle, and use of a firearm during the commission of a crime that took place in the early morning hours of Saturday, Oct. 24.
The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office says Kelly had previously texted her beau, Elijah Baker, about her suspicions of his infidelity, along with threats to shoot someone.
Her fears escalated when Baker took her Volkswagen for a late-night drive.
Police say Kelly was able to track Baker’s location, and used an Uber to drive her to Port St. John, Florida, where she found him hooking up with another gal, Angel Adenau.
Space Coast Daily reports: “Investigators said she was carrying a pink-and-black Glock handgun when she approached the passenger side of the vehicle and fired one round through the window, striking Adenau in the left shoulder.
“Authorities recovered a pink-and-black Glock handgun and a 9mm shell casing during the investigation, according to the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office affidavit.
“Following the shooting, Baker drove Adenau to her residence, where emergency assistance was requested. Adenau was subsequently transported to Holmes Regional Medical Center for treatment.”
“Investigators reportedly recovered text messages from Bake’’s cellphone that documented accusations of infidelity and included an alleged threat by Kelly to shoot someone before the incident.
“During questioning by BCSO detectives, Kelly initially claimed she had acted in self-defense, according to the affidavit. Investigators state that she later acknowledged wanting to ‘make a point’ because she believed Baker was cheating on her again.”
The charge of attempted first-degree murder could result in a maximum penalty of 30 years in prison.
