Democrat U.S. Rep. Hank Johnson’s fretting years back on how Guam “will capsize” is claimed online to have a been a “joke” about overpopulation.

Nevertheless, it has flipped, with voters choosing a Republican governor over a Democrat who has been widely confirmed by pollsters to be a certainty for the election.

It was Johnson who said, during a 2010 House Armed Services Committee hearing, in response to a plan from Adm. Robert Williard to station 8,000 Marines there, he was worried the island would capsize. Online “sources” alleged it was not a serious comment, but “humorous” and “off-the-cuff.”

The actually flipping just happened and was reported, as ConservativeBrief affirmed that the island had picked Tony Ada for governor.

Initially tallies showed Ada and running mate EJ Calvo winning, ending eight years of Democratic leadership. Ada defeated Democratic gubernatorial nominee Therese Terlaje, who campaigned alongside lieutenant governor candidate Sabina Perez, the report said.

Outgoing Democrat Gov. Lou Leon Guerrero was term- imited.
