‘Islamic Takeover’: Social media erupts over Home Depot action

A generation ago or more Arab immigrants started settling in Dearborn, Michigan, a Detroit suburb.

Today that city has an Arab majority, Arab police officers, Arab elected officials and holidays that are linked to events that have no history in America.

A recent report from Michigan News Source pointed out its Muslim mayor, Abdullah Hammoud, “told a Christian he’s not welcome in the city,” the Muslim police chief “bragged about how a large increase in the number of Arab police officers was better serving the city and ended his boast with a Muslim prayer,” and the city renamed a part of a street in honor of resident “who Islamic watchdog groups say celebrated Middle Eastern terrorists.”

But what has social media aflame this week is a decision by Home Depot, that all-American home appliance and improvement company, to post store signage … in Arabic.

Online was the video documentation:

That report said, “Home Depot in Dearborn, Michigan has added Arabic to their signs inside the store This is not assimilation, this is an Islamic Takeover of America I found many major retailers in Dearborn have also added Arabic, locations at stores like Walmart, Home Depot, Costco, Kroger and Albertsons Arabic shouldn’t be on any of our retailers signs. No foreign language should, but especially not Arabic. If we continue to let this happen we will only ensure we become the UK.”

But the video was reposted and reposted and reposted, dozens of times.

And commenters weren’t silent:

“This is insane. Arabic shouldn’t be on any signs anywhere in America. Ever.”

“That’s it, @Lowes is now my go to.”

“Looks like Lowes just got my business…”

“I guess I will be shopping at Lowes exclusively from now on.”

“Gross. Never going to Home Depot again, it’s tainted now.”

“Well, I’m done with Home Depot, time to cancel my credit card too.”

Reports confirmed the store has large hanging signs with English department names such as Appliances, Paint, Moving, Kitchen, Bath, Plumbing, and others, each with corresponding Arabic translations.

One report said other stores in the area, Walmart, Costco, Kroger and others, also have posted Arabic signs in their retail outlets.

Commentator Brigitte Gabriel warned, “What are we doing, America? Are we capitulating to these Muslim invaders? Watering down our American standards by plastering signs in Arabic? ENGLISH is the official language of America.”
