A woman who made $270,000 last year was unable to set aside enough to pay her taxes and repay a portion of her student loans, and she’s insisting those payments are only for the “rich.”
She’s a “socialist.” And she’s a candidate for the U.S. Senate.
“Florida Democratic Senate nominee Angie Nixon, an avowed Democratic Socialist who owns two homes and raked in at least $270,000 from her jobs and investments last year—in addition to her husband’s unpublished income—is lamenting the injustice of having to pay taxes on her outsized income,” charged a report at the Free Beacon.

She had income as a state representative, from a consulting firm, her salary on a nonprofit that promotes black voters and rental income.
“Her income is likely even higher than reported because she is not required to publicly disclose the income earned by her husband, Jarrett Morene, who owns and operates what appears to be a car repair business,” the report said.
Her income was “well over five times the median income of the average American worker, yet she failed to set aside enough of her substantial earnings to pay her taxes and repay her student loans, the report confirmed.
Her financial disclosure confirms she owes almost $14,000 in unpaid taxes to the IRS on top of $17,600 in unpaid federal student loans.
But she wants a 5% wealth tax on billionaires.
The logic from the Democrat party candidate: “Your girl over here is on a payment plan to pay the IRS $12,000 back. And listen, I ain’t made $105 billion, but you making me pay $12,000 to the feds? Like, really? That’s what we’re doing? And they already took some of the taxes away anyway. I paid over $10,000. It’s just, it is crazy.”
Her comments came during a podcast a few weeks ago.
She already had long history of “tax delinquency,” the report said, noting the Florida Department of Revenue hit her company, the Moxie Group LLC, three times for delinquent sales taxes from 2017 through 2021 totaling $4,400 in taxes, penalties, and interest.
Eventually, they were paid.
“The delinquent sales tax may be tied to Nixon’s various race-focused business initiatives. She has coauthored a children’s book about black hair, cofounded a ‘Melanin Market,’ and opened Cafe Resistance, a Black Panther-focused coffee shop and bookstore that contains a shrine-like wall devoted to violent black militants, including cop-killers,” the Free Beacon confirmed.
Her student loan? In October 2023, she issued a statement on Facebook: “Dear Student Loans. It’s above me now,” Nixon wrote. “I don’t wanna pay it back. Education supposed to be free.”
When she filed for divorce in 2024, her financial statement confirmed she made $164,000 in 2023, but allowed none for student loan repayment.
She later dismissed the divorce case.
Paul Kamenar, of the National Legal and Policy Center, noted her recent financial disclosure filed with the Senate failed to include the debts, a “clear” violation of the rules.
