Workers who reportedly were “servicing” an ATM machine in Texas allegedly forgot about a bag of cash they left atop the unit, containing more than $128,000.
It was found by a citizen, turned over to police and eventually restored to the bank that owns it.
Social media promptly noted that, “Someone is getting fired.”

Commenters berated the man for turning it in, but also noted that in today’s age of surveillance, there likely was a camera trained on the location.
Others made clear he would be rewarded, just perhaps not in a tangible way.
A report posted by NBCDFW said Lewisville, Texas, police confirmed the discovery, and return of the cash.
The man who found the bag did not want to be identified or receive public attention, the report said.
It said because of what was inside, apparently in addition to cash, the man thought the bag might belong to a nearby Chick-fil-A, so he took it there. It didn’t, so he called police.
Police chief Brook Rollins said the call summoned officers to went to “secure the money.”
“Police determined the money belonged to a local bank and believe workers servicing the ATM accidentally left the bag behind,” the report said.
Rollins said, “By the time that detective got the report and started working it, the bank had already reached out knowing that we had taken custody of it and was in the process of working to recover that money.”
