‘Make it happen!’ Todd Blanche confirms politicians are not exempt from criminal charges in fraud scandal

Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche has confirmed that politicians – like Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz – are not exempt from criminal charges resulting from federal investigations into Minnesota’s massive social services fraud scandal.

There have been estimates that the cost to taxpayers in that environment could reach into the billions. Already, dozens of convictions have resulted from the estimated $250 million Feeding our Future fraud where companies billed the government, and were paid, for falsely claiming to provide meals to children.

Just this week charges were leveled against two Somali immigrant women in an alleged $21 million fraud, and another convicted fraudster was sentenced to 41 years in jail.

Blanche’s comments came in an exchange with Will Cain.

Will Cain questioned, “Tim Walz dropping out of the governor’s race is NOT ENOUGH of a form of accountability for the people out there that are having thousands, millions, hundreds of MILLIONS of dollars stolen from them through fraud!”

Blanche said, “Here’s now we talk about accountability. We talk about arrests, we talk about prosecutions, we talk about jail sentences, and that’s what we’re doing at the Department of Justice. We’re working with inspectors general, the FBI, DHS and HSI agents. And just a few examples. A jury convicted a Florida man of over $8 billion in Medicaid fraud, Medicare fraud just last week. There was a man sentenced in Minnesota to 41 years in prison for fraud.

“These cases of fraud are the worst kind. Fraud against our most needy, the people who deserve the money the most, children who need money for their lunches when they’re at school, elderly who are having all kind of medical procedures done in their name when they’re not even asking for them.”

“The only way we can hold them accountable is by putting them in jail.”

Cain asked about politicians. “If this lands, and can be proven that politicians were in some way culpable, overseeing it, negligent, in some way, political accountability just isn’t enough for the American people.”

“That’s consistent with the president’s absolute directive to his Department of Justice there,” Blanche said. “It does not matter if you’re a politician or if you’re a fraudster from Somalia. We cannot tolerate it. Governor Walz is a great example. He has done nothing but sue us, okay? Sue the Department of Justice for trying to get records to understand the fraud happening in his state, okay? So that is his reaction to us trying to save the government’s money and recover against fraudsters, is filing lawsuits against us.”

Cain inserted, “Or Ilhan Omar.”

There have been allegations that Omar, the extremist Democrat representing the Somali immigrant dominated district that is the center of the fraud scandal, and Walz, along with his attorney general, Keith Ellison, most likely at least knew about the fraud schemes that were ripping off taxpayers.

In fact, Walz dropped a re-election bid over the scandals.
