Enes Kanter Freedom, a former National Basketball Association center and long known as a human rights activist, is taking the fracas over transgenderism in sports to court.
With his case against Chicago’s WNBA team and the city.
“SEE YOU IN COURT!!! Just filed a federal complaint. I’m taking legal action over my ejection from the
@chicagosky game while peacefully exercising my First Amendment rights,” he explained on social media.
“My T-shirt did what the whole @WNBA apparently couldn’t: define a woman. No threats. No violence. Just biology. And somehow, that required a security escort. You don’t have to agree with my speech but you don’t get to silence me for it. I will not be intimidated. I will not be silenced. I will continue to stand for women and defend free speech.”
He’s seeking injunctive relief and damages for an episode when he had a verbal confrontation with a pro-transgenderism player and he was thrown out of the game.
Freedom, who played for the Utah Jazz, Oklahoma City Thunder, New York Knicks and others over 11 seasons, previously was known for his criticism of the Turkish and Chinese governments. Now he’s also known for standing up for women and girls in sprots.

A report in the New York Post said the dispute arose just days ago when Freedom “was removed” from a WNBA game at Wintrust Arena in Chicago.
He had had a “heated interaction” with layer Natasha Cloud, reports confirmewd.
“Freedom has thrust himself into the ongoing discourse surrounding trans athletes in women’s sports, which has set off a firestorm in the WNBA after Sophie Cunningham told ESPN she wanted to protect ‘young girls in sport who shouldn’t have to go against biological men,'” the report said.
The report explained, “It’s not entirely clear what set off the situation, but during the third quarter, after Cloud made a layup, she started to say something toward the baseline where Freedom was sitting.
Cloud’s Sky teammates and team personnel had to hold her back and Freedom was seen on the broadcast getting up out of his seat and walking toward Cloud with a smirk on his face and arms outstretched.”
Arena “security” then ordered him to leave.
Freedom also has pressed the issue further, declaring himself eligible for the WNBA draft, “saying that he identifies as a woman,” the report said.
