The radical concept of birthright citizenship being used in America right now, under direction from the Supreme Court, is the target of a newly proposed constitutional amendment.
Under the ruling from the Supreme Court, any woman, anywhere in the world, has the right to deliver U.S. citizenship to their child if they can break into the United States and give birth then.
There even have been businesses set up to arrange, for pay, for those mothers-to-be to be in the U.S. at the time they give birth.
President Donald Trump delivered an executive order halting much of that, but it was overturned by the high court on the complaint from immigration activists.
Now Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., has proposed a constitutional amendment to modify that practice so that the U.S. aligns with virtually all other major countries in the world on the dispute: that birthright citizenship is available only to those with direct allegiance and or connections to the United States.
Birthright citizenship belongs to the children of American citizens, not those who broke our immigration laws to come to the United States.

It all revolves around the 14th Amendment’s requirement that someone being handed birthright citizenship be “subject to the jurisdiction of the United States.”
His plan calls for a change that states, “For purposes of the 14th article of amendment to the Constitution of the United States, a person may be considered to be ‘subject to the jurisdiction of the United States’ only in accordance with section 2.”
That requires, “A person born in the United States may only be considered ‘subject to the jurisdiction of the United States’ if the person is born in the United States of parents, one of whom is— (1) a citizen or national of the United States; (2) an alien lawfully admitted for permanent residence in the United States whose residence is in the United States; or (3) an alien with lawful status under the immigration laws performing active service in the Armed Forces.”
Constitutional expert Jonathan Turley said he recently spoke at an event at which he advocated for eliminating “birthright citizenship,” “as have other nations who once followed this ill-considered practice.”
He explained it was the Supreme Court’s Trump v. Barbara case with which the Supreme Court delivered its decision.
“The matter now rests not with the court but with the country. We have never truly had a national debate over the practice,” he said.
“Most countries in the world reject this controversial policy. Our closest allies in Europe reject birthright citizenship and follow the common practice of ‘jus sanguinis,’ or right of blood. We are part of a smaller number of countries following ‘jus soli,’ or right of soil,” he explained.
He said, “It is time that we have a civil and substantive debate over birthright citizenship in the United States. Given that the states are Democratic-controlled, it is unlikely that an amendment would pass; as noted, we have never been given this decision at the national level. Even with the 14th Amendment’s ratification in 1868, there were differing views on the meaning of the critical line: ‘All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside.'”

Democrats oppose any restrictions at all, as they rely on the populations using the citizenship bonanza to vote them into power. In fact, under Joe Biden’s tenure, literally millions and millions of illegal aliens were allowed into the United States, impacting not just elections but social services programs and expenses, the job market, housing and more.
Even the Democrat-promoting publication called Democracy admits the party of Biden and Kamala Harris failed to deal with the issue, and admitted the problem was labeled the “Biden border crisis.” Then the White House delivered a message to Americans of “indifference and incompetence” on the issue. The publication even claimed that Trump’s border security efforts were a play to “weaken democracy, and establish white minority rule.”
